Chapter 7: So, what now?
If the answer to the last question was 0 animals, then the only question left to ask is this:
Are you vegan now?
You might be thinking: ‘I get it. I see the point. I feel bad about it. Maybe I’ll try, or cut down, or do my best…’
But pause for a moment. Imagine if you were the victim - exploited for your flesh, milk, or skin - would ‘trying’ or ‘doing your best’ sound acceptable to you?
Would you want your suffering to continue while someone only ‘cuts back’ or ‘thinks about it’?
Once again, put yourself in their shoes: how desperately would you want someone to speak up on your behalf?
We have to remind ourselves, this is not ‘food for thought’.
It is a call to action.
The good news is, there is no need to change anything about who you are - your religion, your politics, your identity. If you already believe animals deserve respect, all you’re doing is aligning your actions with that belief.
Being vegan is a neutral stance. It isn’t about doing something extra - it’s simply rejecting the exploitation of animals.
1) Stop consuming their flesh, milk, or eggs.
2) Stop paying for cosmetics tested on animals or containing animal ingredients.
3) Stop supporting entertainment that exploits animals, like circuses, marine parks, or zoos.
4) Avoid any other products, services, or industries that treat animals like objects for our use.
You may have noticed that we haven’t spent much time on the ‘how’ of going vegan. This is intentional.
When your ‘why’ is clear - that you don’t want to exploit or harm animals - that clarity is often all you need.
Thankfully, these days, there are more options than ever in supermarkets and restaurants, and an abundance of guides, recipes, and resources online to support anyone making the transition.
Changing habits can still be challenging, of course, but the key driver is the why. Focusing on the core message of veganism - and why it matters - is what inspires people to change.
As Viktor Frankl said:
“He who has a why can bear any how.”
You may see it as hard, inconvenient, or restrictive, because you’re thinking about your own habits or what you might need to give up.
But when you shift your focus to the suffering, confinement, and exploitation that animals endure, the choice feels much clearer.
More importantly, the next step is to speak out.
To use your voice to defend animals against human supremacy, just as you would want to be defended If you were in their position.
The animals have no voice. We do. And now, it’s time to blow this wide open. Let’s spread the truth like wildfire.
